VIX Goes Longer and Stronger as Streak Approaches Record
The stock-market volatility gauge known as the VIX is in the midst of an unprecedented advance. Thursday’s increase in the Chicago Board Options Exchange Volatility Index was the eighth gain in a row, matching the longest streak ever, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. The index has climbed 70 percent, far more than in two previous eight-day moves: 23 percent in November-December 2013 and 32 percent in March-April 2012.
