Presidential Race Spurs UBS Optimism on U.S. Repatriation
This year’s U.S. presidential election may be a catalyst for legislation that encourages companies to bring home cash, Julian Emanuel, UBS Group AG’s executive director of U.S. equity and derivatives strategy, wrote Monday in a report. Emanuel cited repatriation-related comments made by Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald Trump. He estimated that companies in the S&P 500 Index, led by Apple Inc., Microsoft Corp., Cisco Systems Inc., Oracle Corp. and Alphabet Inc., have $1.1 trillion in cash held overseas.
